Hello International Transfer Students!

Thanks for taking a look at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD)! We’re located on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota!

UMD has approx. 11,000 total enrolled students. 9,000 of our students are undergraduates. The rest are in one of our many graduate programs or post-graduate programs in our medical and pharmacy schools.

By U.S. university size standards, we’re considered a medium-size campus.

Climate and Area.
Autumn in Duluth is legendary. Beautiful fall colors, comfortable temperatures and relatively dry skies make every fall one to remember. Winters in Duluth can get a bit…chilly, but fun. Duluthians keep busy all winter long with skiing, snowboarding and MUCH more. However, when temperatures get downright COLD, we have good news: our campus is connected by a series of concourse and skyway systems.

Summer in Duluth is beautiful and temperatures are comfortable. However, because of Lake Superior, we have a “marine” climate during Spring. It’s a little rainy, but it always leads memorable summers.

In all, Duluth is also surrounded by some of the most scenic and pristine nature in the United States. People live in Duluth BECAUSE they love being outdoors, even when the temperatures dip.

UMD offers more than 150+ major and minor programs within five separate collegiate unit. They are:

Students who graduate from UMD go on to do amazing things! Some continue their education, while others find jobs and start their careers. Our placement rate for graduates is around 97% in the first 12 months after graduation and the average starting salary for our graduates is about $40,000.
